In the heart of the province of Naples, an 80s apartment of about 110 square meters comes back to life thanks to a project signed by Mara Castaldo, architect and founder of the Mr. C Architetto studio. The intervention transforms a traditionally cut house into a bright, functional, and contemporary home, responding to the desire of the owning family to reinterpret the inherited spaces in a modern, fluid, and convivial way.

A distribution to rethink
The original layout of the apartment reflected the habits of the period: a long corridor separated the kitchen and living room, while the entrance delimited by doors and dividers limited the spread of natural light. The sleeping area did not follow a precise logic of privacy and comfort.
The project by Mara Castaldo was born with clear objectives: to streamline the paths, create a visual connection between the living area, relocate the entire sleeping area to the east and introduce new contemporary functions such as a study and an integrated pantry.
The new living area: conviviality and light
The most evident transformation concerns the kitchen, moved to a larger space to accommodate a convivial peninsula. This space becomes the focal point of the house, no longer just linked to the act of cooking, but a place for daily interaction, open and bright.
The entrance, reimagined as a connecting point, now opens up to the living area without fully revealing it, creating a broader and more welcoming perception. The old hallway is completely absorbed by a study, main bathroom, and pantry, reclaiming valuable square meters. This intervention reflects the typical approach of architectural interior design projects, where functionality and atmosphere interact to create coherent and contemporary spaces.
The bedroom area: optimized comfort
On the east side, all the rooms dedicated to rest finally find continuity and order. By simply moving the door of the second bathroom, it was possible to reduce the hallway, create a small anteroom with a wardrobe, and obtain a more functional bathroom with a comfortable shower.
Small adjustments, designed by Mr. C Architetto, enhance the existing layout and improve both comfort and privacy.
Materials and palette: soft and contemporary elegance
The color palette plays a fundamental role in the project's identity: the warm tones of turtledove, combined with the bold character of petroleum blue, create a refined and enveloping visual balance. The wood, used consistently in various areas of the house, harmonizes the spaces by providing warmth and a pleasant materiality that highlights the new internal layout.
