Gruff revisits a Victorian family home in Deptford, South London, and by combining materials and colors, it manages to offer the residents, a family of five, light, space and a connection to the adjacent park

The family who were the clients for the project wanted an expansion to their home that would allow them to eat, work and relax together. The expansion takes the opportunity to connect with the outdoors and nature by taking advantage of its proximity to leafy Deptford Park

Outside, the monochromatic material palette of white brick and dark metal are contrasted with the park's vegetation. Stairs connect the outdoor dining room and the raised garden terrace. The overall design improves the energy efficiency through insulation and glazing
