Ex-garage Loft: a challenging aesthetic and functional conversion

In Milan an industrial pavilion is the subject of a delicate transformation work that produces a new architectural organism with a welcoming atmosphere and a strong personality: the ex-garage Loft

From industrial building to unconventional home

Thanks also to the pleasure of the client in daring and breaking away from pre-packaged schemes, architect Virginia Lorello can bring to life the project of an unconventional house renovation. The industrial building subject to the delicate conversion intervention into a residence, was originally a body shop and was later used as a photogravure laboratory. Today, it retains the same volume and becomes a spectacular 200 square meter loft with a precious garden

Revitalized exterior blending craftsmanship and minimalism

The outer skin of the loft, bound in color, is revitalized by the three-dimensional play of artisanal plaster: a decorative marcapiano with a taste that is both classic and contemporary. The openings are enlarged to increase light in the interiors, and the final exterior effect, given by the attention to every construction detail, is minimal and refined

A loft with a composite, strong, and harmonious personality

The heart of the loft is the large living room: 100 square meters of space where the original painted truss beams meet walls with rough exposed plaster, sleek black fenix storage furniture, precious surfaces in Siena marble, and micro-perforated sheets that create new volumes. This is how the loft sings its composite, strong, and harmonious personality, overlooking the green outdoors

Multiple levels for an articulated and stimulating space

The perforated sheet metal volume in the center of the living room creates dynamics in the space. Inside, there is a useful storage space, while on top is the bright and elevated study area. The sleeping area is separated by the antechamber and the walk-in closet. The bathrooms are embellished with green marbles and flooded with light from the skylights. The master bedroom is enhanced by the design of the wallpaper and by custom-made bedside tables and wardrobes. The cherry on top is the children's room: organized on multiple levels, it is an articulated and stimulating space to play and grow
