In one of the most beautiful locations in a small holiday village on the island of Schiermonnikoog, in the Netherlands, the Ferskûle holiday home offers, as its name meaning "hidden" suggests, a multitude of delicately designed spaces where it is possible to curl up, lie down, look outside, and find new perspectives or total relaxation

The zoning regulation mandates a maximum gross construction of 110 square meters on the island within a clearly defined area. Within this compact boundary, the Denkkamer design studio crafts for the Ferskûle holiday home a diversified mosaic of spaces and moments, each with its own distinct character and varying qualities as the hours and seasons change

A bow window where one can lie down is found in the heart of the house, along with an eat-in kitchen featuring a central table, a lowered living room with a wood-burning fireplace and views of the surroundings, and a study with panoramic views as if it were a birdwatcher’s hut; bedrooms with views of the starry sky, a niche embedded in the exterior facade like a kind of wicker beach chair, and an intimate outdoor lounge carved into the house's basement: the new holiday home is full of special and surprising places

The chosen materials, their texture and their tactility, are inspired by the materiality of the island and the feel of the Wadden Sea. Solid and resistant to the salty and aggressive marine climate on the outside, the Ferskûle holiday home, on the inside, welcomes with its velvety surfaces and warm tones just like a fine, soft sweater
