Impossible Street Art. What would artists create if they had no limits?

Impossible Street Art is a project that combines street art and photography, displaying shots of a world imagined without limits by artists. “(...) what if, instead of a brick wall, the canvas was the side of a mountain or the surface of the sea?” (Joseph Ford)

The new significant collaboration of english art photographer Joseph Ford with artists from around the world brings to life Impossible Street Art. Among the first international street artists collaborating on the project are: Ador (France), Denis Meyers (Belgium), JanIsDeMan (Netherlands), Levalet (France), Morley (USA), Peeta (Italy), and Victoria Villasana (Mexico). Ford's starting point was to imagine if artists could work on any surface, not limited by scale, accessibility, safety, or rules

The locations of the first exhibition include the Panthéon in Paris, the iconic chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters in England, and a Los Angeles highway. The collaborating artists receive large, high-resolution photographic prints of these places, which they use as canvases, creating original works of art, handmade and without digital manipulation. Ford then photographs each piece of art in its original location, creating captivating windows into a parallel universe where street artists have had free rein

The first edition features eight prints, with each work highlighting the unique style of its artist: from Ador’s imaginative characters, to Peeta’s optical illusions, to Victoria Villasana’s integration of fabrics into her murals. All the works have been created by hand and the artists are challenged to work on a much smaller scale than they are accustomed to

Ford overcame a series of challenges to photograph each work against its real background: replicating the right lighting, weather, angle, in addition to risking being driven away by security guards, attacked by hungry mosquitoes, and seeing the works of art swept away by strong winds. Artist Joseph Ford stated: "Street artists are well known for having this immense creativity that already pushes the boundaries of the possible. I wanted to see what we could create together if those limits were removed altogether.” (Joseph Ford)
