Three-dimensionality and play of volumes on the facade. The residential building Interpolation B

Interpolation B, in Britanski square in the center of Zagreb, is a multi-apartment building of 22 residential units, mostly of larger size, with bilateral orientation. The building has 6 floors above ground and three basement floors, where there are parking lots and garages

In the architectural project of PROARH the distribution of the apartments of Interpolation B is planned so that there is a range of accommodation of various sizes: from studios with single exposure to four-room apartments overlooking both sides of the building. In the latter the living room, the dining room and the kitchen are on the street front, in the central part there are the bathroom and the cupboards area, while the sleeping area overlooks the courtyard side

The aim of the project is to project itself with a dynamic and recognizable shape towards the green of the park and towards Britanski Square, one of the most beautiful of the Lower Town. The facade has bay windows, which, on the longest side open directly onto that square and capture views that otherwise could not be experienced In addition to enriching the living space, these windows give plasticity to the membrane of the facade itself, creating a dynamic offset from the road line

Since it is a street not so busy, the facade is composed of a single element of glass and is applied as a unified but jagged membrane from different floors of decking, from windows and loggias, which create an image of volumes that slide on each other. The dark glass and the light strokes of the metal frames further emphasize the three-dimensionality and the game of shapes
