Mass. Fragmented volumes and custom-made furniture for a restaurant in Bogotá.

The Cadena Studio designs Masa, a new restaurant, for the Mesa Brand, which has quickly become a key point in the city's gastronomic scene, with its artisan bakery and café: the concept is well represented thanks to its interconnected fragmented volumes

Connected Spaces, Distinct Functions

In its approach to interior design projects, Studio Cadena organizes spaces as a collection of distinct yet connected volumes, each with a specific function. The design defines clear spatial environments while maintaining the fluidity and openness of an open plan. One corner houses a café and a bakery, opening up to the central entrance, adjacent to a volume dedicated to the dining area and a separate commercial space. An outdoor patio offers seating surrounded by greenery and connects the public areas with the kitchen at the back. Distinctive elements like a concrete bar, a cylindrical wooden station, and a seating platform at the entrance help shape the space, enriching the architectural experience.

Indoor-outdoor experience

The triangular windows and the entrance open the facade towards the street, creating a direct dialogue with the sidewalk life and revealing what happens inside the restaurant, giving life to a true indoor-outdoor experience. The playfulness of the surfaces continues in the fixtures and furniture, all designed by Studio Cadena. Sculptural lighting designs characterize the various volumes: large paper globes illuminate the corner bar, while a hand-painted metal mesh, suspended from the ceiling, reflects natural light into the central volume. A continuous floor in large terrazzo tiles, made with traditional techniques, visually unifies the internal public spaces.

The meal as an immersive experience

These elements have been carefully chosen, blending local artisanal tradition with new construction techniques, such as the use of concrete, which has made possible the creation of large openings and evocative plays of light. In this balance between past and present, design plays a fundamental role in the vision of the concept store, redefining the way food is served and experienced: not just a meal, but an immersive experience designed in every detail.
