A rocky enclave of rugged beauty is the place where the studio Akb Architects designs the Metrick Cottage, a single-storey boat house clad in wood, located on the shores of Lake Joseph in Ontario.
The project of the boathouse by Akb Architects stands out from the rugged beauty that surrounds it, giving life to a warm, elegant, and ecological home. The design of the cottage consists of three distinct but interconnected pods, with a shared open space, flanked by private bedrooms.
The rooms of the residence, carefully integrated into the landscape, overlook a stone ledge, creating a visual boundary that ensures privacy. Various wood textures have been used for cladding, from semi-charred spruce to ash wood that wraps around internal floors, walls, and ceilings.
The cottage, like in other architecture projects of this kind, elegantly integrates into the terrain and landscape, offering a panoramic view of the lake and the coast. An oasis of serenity for the Metrick family, the project's client.
