The Mountaine Workplace project has become an emblem of functional design. It is a recognized and admired example of contemporary transformation of the workplace, with a strong connection between design and nature. The challenge for the designers was to create a space that seeks to inspire potential tenants and visitors.
The architectural design by Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui and Lorène Faure, architects and designers, provides a view of the surrounding environment, creating a sense of affinity with nature, even within the workspace. The cascading seating in the bay amplifies this connection, offering occupants omnipresent views of the green mountains
Finally, the influence of nature extends to the choice of materials: natural wood, evident in the grooved construction technique of the long wall and coffered ceilings; natural leather for the custom-made lockers and window seats; and cork fabric for wall coverings and seat cushions. The importance of green hues reflects the surrounding greenery, enhancing the overall aesthetics and subtly integrating the workspace with the environment. Reflective materials like mirrors have been used in window mullions, promoting natural light and aesthetically enhancing the view of the mountains.
