On the hills of an affluent area in the city of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, a young couple decides to renovate a former conventional terraced house with a long driveway and dark interiors.

Unconventional Shapes

Fabian Tan Architect who oversaw the renovation of the house opted for a bold T-shaped design for the house facade. Upon entering the house, one can perceive an extension of the interior both outward and vertically, upwards. The ground floor features open spaces, and all floors are interconnected through a central void, ensuring good natural lighting and excellent ventilation.

Trees and panoramic view

Trees, in some spots, pierce through the architecture, softening the space and accentuating the contrast of the lines. On a slab of a former cistern lies the new loft studio, accessed through a spiral staircase. Another flight of stairs leads to the roof, with a bathtub and a panoramic view of the city's imposing skyline.
