Living in the house all year round: from summer residence to permanent home

Every home tells a story. But when architectural design intervenes with sensitivity and vision, that story is renewed. This is the case of the house by the lake, a 1970s villa initially designed as a vacation home, now transformed into a primary residence by one of the heirs through one of the house renovation projects by the duearchitetti studio.

The desire was to bring life back to the spaces, creating a place to live in every day, in every season, alone or with company. A home that reflected a new personality: lively, dynamic, open to socializing.

Continuous dialogue between water and green

The location of the villa is extraordinary: on one side, the lake, with its blue-green reflections and the surprising proximity of the water. On the other, a completely green front, accessible via a staircase that descends from street level.

This landscape duo - water and nature - was the guiding thread of the entire project. The interiors constantly interact with the outdoors, creating a visual and sensory relationship between what is built and what is natural.

Open space and transparency: the new internal distribution

At a floor plan level, the house has been freed from all non-structural elements. The new layout is based on smooth connections between spaces, eliminating sharp divisions and promoting spatial continuity.

The most impactful design move was the enclosure of the entrance porch with full-height glass walls, turning it into a proper room: a transparent case immersed in greenery.

In this new space, the kitchen, the active heart of the house, finds its place, designed to be functional and sociable, in direct relation with the outside and with the historic pergola that, in summer, gets covered in wisteria becoming a shaded and ventilated retreat.

Outdoor spaces as extensions of daily living

The house is surrounded by a variety of outdoor spaces designed to be lived in all year round. Next to the bedroom area and the living room opens a small porch facing the lake: a cozy space, ideal for morning awakening or an evening aperitif in front of the outdoor fireplace.

Another focal point is the terrace at the dock level, perfect for sunbathing, just a few steps from the beach. A place that daily reminds of the strong lakeside identity of this unique residence.
