Two artists' villa that combines both closeness and privacy

Villa No.1, a studio villa in northern Iran, contains two separate villas, located on the property in order to maintain the privacy of each home

The two villas in one, designed by Amirhossein Afzali Architects, combine proximity and privacy at the same time through a design strategy and a change in roof pitch. Villa No.1 has three levels: the ground floor containing the living area and an exhibition space, the second level with a bedroom, and a third with a space used as an artist's studio

Each villa is about 370 m2; the ground floor is 180 m2, the second floor is 154 m2, and the studio on the third floor is 36 m2. The architects transfer the courtyard to the private part of the villa via a large balcony in the 66 m2 bedroom, with long windows that achieve excellent lighting

The third-floor studio is designed to get the view and light from the second-floor balcony: there is intimacy and connection between the studio, the bedroom, the balcony, and nature. The two artist friends wanted a space outside the hectic city of Tehran and close to nature where they could create their art and entertain guests and visitors
