Weathered House: a large concrete tray hovering over a white monolith

The Weathered House project starts from the orientation of the concrete tray, which is oriented according to the movement of the sun with respect to the underlying surfaces

Kamat & Rozario Architecture orients the concrete tray according to the movement of the sun, with respect to the underlying white surfaces: it extends outwards and thus shields the south and west walls. In this way the house opens further east, climatically more pleasant part, in the form of an open courtyard

The absence of mass creates the heart of the house. The sun also guides the positioning of the rooms on the upper floor: the bathrooms and service rooms are aligned with the west wall, in such a way as to act as thermal mass. The rest of the floor continues to open to the east court

The south facade in the front is an expression of layering of materials, made of different perforations and textures, also guided by the penetrating rays of the sun. The floor plan in front of the house became a partner in the layering of materials. The sun can finally bring its drama into the home via the top-lit main staircase
