Continuous domes and vaults for a cultural center. Reminiscent of historic architecture in Oaxaca

The Fr-EE studio in the Mexican capital of Oaxaca designs a cultural center in which domes and continuous vaults are used to commemorate a place of meeting and recreation, as well as to enhance the cultural identity of the State

Domes, continuous vaults and courtyards are used by Oaxaca's historic architecture and are part of the identity of the state and its cities. If originally they were used exclusively for religious buildings, in this project they are used to celebrate the cultural identity of the state

The vaults respond to a criterion of functionality, which makes it possible for the height of the vaults to increase in order to accommodate the programs of the complex by generating a rhythm in elevation, unlike the vaults of smaller proportions, intended to contain the museum uses, creating large spaces that facilitate flexibility in the exhibition

In the facade, the key points are the hypnotic lines, continuity and fluidity, the use of materials that create a bridge between past and future. For the garden, native plants are used that can thrive in the climatic conditions of the city in harmony with the architectural design
