The design studio "Atelier TobiaZambotti" has created a strong identity for the new ice cream shop located inside the Perlan Museum in Reykjavík. The ceiling is made of soundproof material that captures the visitor's attention in a kaleidoscopic composition of shapes and colors
The project concept stems from a request from the client's client: to create an attractive and unique design. The design studio took inspiration from the caves in the glaciers and their ever-changing reflections and colors, the pattern of the ceiling in fact reinterprets this naturalistic scenery turning it into an iconic element
The latter is emphasized by the stainless steel back-counter that reflects the 4500K "glacial" light of the LED strips. The ceiling characterizes the entire space and at the same time defines the design of all the other elements: from the round service door that reflects the shape of the ceiling to the white Corian counter
The cash register and other objects are hidden from view and the noise of the fridges is attenuated by the sound-absorbing sponge pyramids of the ceiling. Following the philosophy of the museum itself, the Perlan ice cream shop celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of Icelandic nature with a bold and eye-catching design
