A former garage in poor condition in Montreal, once the city's iconic restaurant, is transformed into OATBOX headquarters through ISSADESIGN's design, demonstrating how every space has potential that a sensitive approach is capable of shining through, for the benefit of the entire community

OATBOX, a company that produces nutritious meals, wanted a comfortable, inviting environment for its offices so its employees could work in a bright, healthy, family-friendly space. The tight budget was a considerable challenge for ISSADESIGN considering the deteriorating state of the space

For OATBOX, it all starts with a good meal, which is why the kitchen becomes the heart of the project and is visible even from outside the building. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dining room with a large wooden table, and a living area opens up beside it. Behind these spaces with a domestic character are employee offices. The balance between the corporate and residential environment is the result of an ingenious combination of brightness, textures, and furnishings

The street façade opens outward and lets in the daylight from the large glazed garage door, preserved as an architectural element to recall the old function. It, among other things, allows the space to be fully opened in the summer season to enjoy natural ventilation. This structural feature is also a gesture of openness to the neighborhood, providing an opportunity to offer inclusive creative activities reinforcing the family spirit of the place and openness to the community

The architectural personality is defined by the simplicity and together sophistication of the materials balanced by the neutrality of white that accentuates the natural brightness. Wood, marble, concrete, and terracotta bricks are interwoven with the materials of the pre-existing structure left exposed to emphasize the original architectural character of the place. Accents of color and vegetation are integrated at various points of the venue making it warmer. The decor is inviting and reminiscent of home with its sofas, rugs and large pillows
