In the hills of an affluent area of the city of Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, a young couple decides to renovate a conventional former townhouse with a long driveway and dark interiors, entrusting the task to architect Fabian Tan

The façade of the house features a bold T-shaped form. As you enter the interior of the house, you sense an extension of the interior to outside but also vertically upwards. The ground floor has been fitted with open spaces and all floors are connected by a central void, which ensures good natural lighting and ventilation

In some places, trees perforate the architecture, softening the space and accentuating the contrast of the lines. The new studio loft is located on a slab of a former cistern and is accessed via a spiral staircase. Another flight of stairs leads to the rooftop, with a bathtub and panoramic views of the city's impressive skyline
