The project by Sa-Architecture, a firm founded and led by Arch. Marco Savorelli, consists of an innovative residential intervention carved out of a former industrial warehouse area in the compound on Via Mambretti located in the Milanese neighborhood with a troubled history Quarto Oggiaro. The MA.ST. lot has 25 thousand square meters and 94 apartments distributed on three sides composing an internal courtyard that accommodates the appurtenant gardens and common green spaces

MA.ST. is "A design thought composed of solids and voids, where the rigorous lines of architecture and prestigious materials meet the fullness of greenery designed and distributed precisely to generate public places for the inhabitants" (Sa-Architecture)
Savorelli's firm reflects on overcoming the idea of a city that revolves around its historic center, a mode that is now saturated, no longer sustainable and anti-democratic; a reflection that the architects feel is necessary in order to offer everyone a "new and possible" way of inhabiting urbanity, and why not, a well-designed way as well.
Quarto Oggiaro is part of that "THICK EDGE of Milan that is populous and popular but is becoming another occasion of a multicentric city." The word PERIPHERY can lose its meaning thanks to both the high-quality redesign of residential complexes such as MA.ST. and the efficient network of connections with the city center and other metropolitan areas. The Mambretti complex is located in a new urban center provided with all the services necessary for city living: schools, parks, hospitals, stores, etc. An independent and also historic place that is connected with the whole city of Milan

According to Sa-Architecture, the real conceptual and design leap could be precisely to eradicate the "peripheral stigma" in order to return to the architect's true task, which is to create places for the well-being of people and the community, also a noble form of sustainability
