The urban regeneration of the area around Leaf Street in Manchester by Mecanoo architecten marked the beginning of a new chapter. After the demolition of Victorian houses in the post-war period and the subsequent demolition of the famous "Hulme Crescents," a new urban face emerged.
The new residential complex on Leaf Street: five levels of modernity
The modern residential complex is spread over five levels of apartments. With its compact architecture, the complex unfolds harmoniously along the ground, offering a panoramic view to the north. The single-family homes rise over three floors, maintaining the aesthetic of neighboring houses from the 1930s.
Urban greenery: natural spaces in the heart of the city
The building, characterized by its S-shaped form, has given life to two green spaces that are semi-enclosed and open to the public. A welcoming courtyard, resembling a garden square, opens towards the Hulme Arch Bridge. Across Leaf Street, a park provides a safe area for children to play.
