To achieve the intent of the FROD renovation project, carried out by the architects of mome.estudio, first the original materials hidden under the layers of the interventions that have taken place over the years were recovered. Existing elements such as brick columns and metal beams and pillars were restored; the pre-existing ones now coexist with new materials selected for the beauty of their imperfection such as the polished concrete floor and plaster walls

FROD is the name of the renovation of a house in central Madrid that had two major challenges: to succeed in letting as much natural light as possible into the apartment and at the same time to recover its original character, for a result that would reflect the personality of the new inhabitants
The new ensemble generates a space with its own character, where craftsmanship and materials whose appeal intensifies with the passage of time are enhanced.
The other theme of the renovation concerns light: the apartment is located on a second floor distributed around a small courtyard. The passage of light into the rooms of the house was hindered by a fragmented and uneven distribution
The interior design proposed as a solution a strategically placed mirrored wall to bounce and redistribute natural light coming from both east and west. The usage requirements of the owners' house also made artificial lighting an important point in the development of the project. Different types of LEDs were integrated into the building elements so that light effects could be created to transform different spaces according to their use
