Wooden outdoor furniture promotes healthy living and in harmony: the Yogapoints

Yogapoints are outdoor furniture objects made of wood, which are repeated in series and characterized by a design that conveys stability, lightness, simplicity, and - due to the choice of materials used - also a certain sense of belonging to nature

The goal in building Yogapoints was to make public space in the Moravian-Silesian region of the Czech Republic more attractive. The KLAR studio architects inventing the Yogapoints seek an object that is in harmony with nature and inspires people in leading a healthy and relaxed lifestyle. As the name suggests, yogapoints can be used for doing yoga, but also for relaxing, stretching after sports, or simply enjoying the surrounding landscape

The delivery for this project required a universal, easy-to-construct, and unique object that would then be scattered across the landscape; it would have to be operational even in bad weather. The object was to have a lightweight structure, providing a surface for yoga exercises or alternative activities and relaxation

KLAR studies the basic elements associated with yoga and uses them as key motifs. The designers' goal was to design a small object whose prefabricated copies would pop up in a wide variety of places, urban areas, resorts, or natural landscapes. Thus the Yogapoint was born: a small pavilion with a very rational wooden structure that provides practice space for two people

On the square platform of the object are four solid columns carrying a grid of wooden planks. The wooden floor serves as a comfortable exercise mat. The shape of the symmetrically placed columns evokes lightness or even fragility -- despite the fact that they are what gives stability to the object and firmly support the roof grid. The latter is designed to provide shade but if necessary can be closed with a transparent cover to shelter from the rain The Yogapoints are designed in two size variations. The largest can accommodate up to six people
