Aaroh: the safe and happy family residence

“Aaroh” is more than a home, it is a world that protects and nourishes with vital energy an Indian family, composed of a couple with two children and a grandmother. It is located in a recent luxury neighborhood on the outskirts of the city of Muzaffarnagar and, with its architecture that intertwines contemporaneity and principles of harmonious space from Vastu philosophy, embodies the meaning of its Arabic name “one who has the high qualities of a Mountain”: harmonious, vital, diverse, beneficial, and strong

Vastu Principles: harmonization of space

For the clients, the project focuses for their new home were safety and integration of Vastu principles of free flow of vital energy through harmonization of space with the 5 elements of nature and sacred geometry. The Studio AVT's architects, who approach all their architecture projects in a "deeply personal" (Studio AVT) and highly professional manner, creates Aaroh: an intimate and secure universe that is also rich in varied and diverse spatial experiences

Perfect fusion between interiors and exteriors

In a perfect fusion between interiors and exteriors, the residence is developed on two floors opening towards the inside around a double courtyard: that of the Brahmasthan with its fountain, the energetic center of the house which must, traditionally, remain free from obstacles for the vital circulation of prana; the second is that of the Mandir dedicated to the spirit where the protective and benevolent statue of Shiva sits. These spaces, which are the heart of the dwelling, divide the convivial areas of the house, located towards the northeast, from the more intimate and restful areas to the southwest. Other outdoor spaces provide light and air to various areas of the house, such as the private patios of the bedrooms and the front terraces

The house program

The house program includes on the ground floor the entrance, a first living room, the dining room and the kitchen, a double-height lounge area. On this latter open the 3 suites on this floor, each with a private bathroom and walk-in closet. On this level, in addition to service areas such as the guest bathroom and a small space for staff, there are patios and outdoor living areas. Upstairs, another 3 suites with their respective terraces and various indoor and outdoor living spaces

The outer skin: an embroidered metal screen

On the outside, Aaroh projects the soul of the interiors onto its skin: the mainly glass north-eastern facade is enriched and made secure by an embroidered metal screen featuring designs from ancient tradition, becoming a jewel that interacts with passersby through amazement and wonder. The architecture remains solid with few windows on the south-west side, ensuring privacy, security, and climate control
