Celebrate the industrial history with every detail of the M45 building

The M45 building is located in an area with a rich industrial heritage in the French city of Villeurbanne and relates to the neighborhood by offering a refined and contemporary version of productive architecture

A hybrid structure that revitalizes the past

The Franco-Brazilian studio Triptyque, which approaches architectural projects as challenges to unite contemporary knowledge with the wisdom of tradition, designs the M45 building as a bridge between the industrial history of the Mansart neighborhood and the modern urban space with its needs for flexibility and sustainability. M45 revitalizes the past by blending in its hybrid structure the elements of an industrial hangar and a refined style with adaptable spaces, capable of evolving for the future

Adaptability and reconfigurability of spaces

The M45 is composed of three compact volumes with an optimized layout: the emergency exits are designed as external walkways that define the rhythm within the courtyards, opening up breaches of visibility towards the interior. The flexibility of the program is maximized and within the building, a variety of functions find space: commercial activities, educational facilities, residences, and productive spaces. The architecture of the M45 allows for extreme adaptability and reconfigurability of spaces, ensuring a long useful life for the building

A space for connection and exchange

Local craftsmanship is housed in small workshops on the ground floor and first level. Above are offices and shops, which can also be converted to meet new needs. The architectural style is minimalist: light concrete, glass, and metal create the pure and light form of M45. Great importance has been given to the permeability of the building, designed as a dynamic urban space for connection and exchange, where different functions coexist and complement each other
