Wooden villa in the heart of nature. Architectural tribute to the living forest

Forest House is a project by Natalie Dionne Architecture, designed to pay homage to the forest by which it is surrounded, especially through the wood that is present in every corner of the house, pointing to the symbiosis with the surrounding environment

The site of the project is located 100 km southeast of Montreal, not too far from urban life and at the same time immersed in the beauty of nature. Wood which dominates the palette of materials is found both inside and outside. The exposed structure and the various finishes all reveal the richness of the natural material

In order to get the maximum light and views available, the accommodations are elevated on a hollow thanks to a minimal structure, which ensures minimal impact on the existing terrain. The main floor is the heart of the project and hovers above the rocky crevice, projecting a large terrace towards the escarpment

From the external part of the project, dedicated to relaxation and outdoor villa, we move to the interiors: kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom, located at the southern end. The living area is glazed from floor to ceiling and is flooded with natural light. To the east, the spectacular slope provides a panoramic view of the forest

The exposed roof structure is made of northern Quebec black spruce. Special attention has been paid to the facades clad in eastern white cedar, which have been pre-processed with a product that accelerates the graying process, so as to blend into the landscape and minimize future maintenance
