A house, a gesture: living under a single structure

A small refuge in Mar del Plata, in the garden neighborhood of Santa Celina. A compact house that arises from the exploration of space, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior, between above and below, to live the minimum as if it were the maximum.

An atypical terrain for a unique project

In the green heart of Santa Celina, south of Mar del Plata, a lot with an unusual shape becomes the stage for a pure architectural gesture by TAM-Guillermo Elgart. The topography of the terrain, with the street lower than the natural level, offers the opportunity to dig and shape the space, creating a central patio that sneaks in like a tongue of land in the heart of the house. In front, a tree-lined avenue; at the back, a green pedestrian path. A place of passage and rest, of tranquility and movement.

A simple structure that becomes the protagonist

The house delicately rests on the sculpted lot: a system of parallel metal columns to the street supports a series of inverted beams that run from front to back. From these beams, a concrete slab suspends and bends along the edges, defining the architectural box and the party walls. Everything is reduced to the essential: there are no decorative frills, because the structure itself becomes form and meaning. This approach falls within the philosophy of many contemporary architectural projects, where construction is not only a support but also a protagonist, enhancing the purity of materials and geometries.

Multiplicity of paths and freedom of movement

Despite its small size, the house offers multiple paths and the possibility to choose how to move through the space. Everything originates and develops around the carved patio, from which one can circulate freely, without constraints. The line separating the interior from the exterior is fluid: one can inhabit the ground level, the suspended deck, the gallery, or the park, in a constant dialogue between environments. The living experience transforms into a sensory journey, where every step offers a new perspective.

Living the minimum as if it were the maximum

The project explores the relationship between space and structure, making simplicity a manifesto. Everything is contained under a large shell, an architectural skin that embraces and organizes every space: the living area, the patio, the grill, the parking space, and even the trees. There are no rigid hierarchies, but a continuous system of intersecting views and perspective escapes. This house is the very essence of minimalist architecture projects: living with little is equivalent to living fully.
