Saundha Gharaunda: a house that breathes, charming and eclectic

In Panipat, India, in a residential complex, Saundha Gharaunda is being built, a townhouse that has its heart in the central open courtyard around which the airy and fascinating interiors develop, just like the personality of its inhabitants

A space that resonates with its own character

The retired couple with two daughters wanted a place to call home: a space that resonates with its own character and their vision of life, simple yet extravagant. This is how one of the residential architecture projects by Studio AVT Architects Pvt Ltd was born: the Saundha Gharaunda. On its 350 square meter plot, the private residence welcomes with its dynamic volumes and its main facade decorated with a perforated brick pattern in traditional Jali style, hinting at the blending of interiors and exteriors

The patio: focus around which the interiors are distributed

The central courtyard arranged in a central position is the heart of the house. Enclosed by movable glass and aluminum walls, the patio serves as a focal point, providing oxygen and light, around which the internal spaces are distributed. From the entrance of Saundha Gharaunda, illuminated by the Brick Jali wall, you reach a foyer with a service bathroom. To the right is the formal living room, while to the left the walkway, emphasized by the floor and ceiling geometries, runs alongside the patio and leads to the distribution area: in addition to the staircase, from here you can access the kitchen with pantry and service area, the double-height dining area connected to the family room, and the master bedroom with private bathroom and walk-in closet

The second floor and the garden terrace

Enriching the ground floor of Saundha Gharaunda are the outdoor spaces of the family living room and the suite, as well as the meditation and prayer area Puja Sthal located on a raised platform between the dining area and the formal living room. Upstairs, accessed by a suspended L-shaped bridge open to the dining room below, are the rooms of the two daughters and the garden terrace. A kitchenette at one end of the walkway makes this floor potentially independent. The garden terrace, from which one can overlook the patio on the ground floor, offers various fixed shading solutions that, in addition to providing coolness, architecturally define the environment
