Vers une Industrie Légère: Harmony between Industry and Nature

In a forest on a mountain, a small company builds a place to work and chooses a privileged piece of land. Step by step, the industrial complex is built, with a project that takes into account the natural landscape and the surrounding context.

The Birth of Vers une Industrie Légère

Vers une Industrie Légère is among the architecture projects that can be considered a manifesto, as a new way of understanding industrial environments. The project, curated by Gramática Arquitectónica, was realized in Barro, Spain. Vers une Industrie Légère is more than a factory building, it is a place where clients and workers can enjoy the industrial process. It is a statement that industry does not have to exist only in vast areas full of concrete.

Innovations and Distinctive Features

An green area has been added to the land. Functioning as a small lung of fresh air for the industrial park, it is a garden that all workers in the area can enjoy, while clients or factory workers can have moments outdoors. The facade was made by the workers themselves, thus strengthening the bond between the building and those who inhabit it.

Construction Process and Worker Involvement

Each panel of the facade is carefully brought into the new building. One by one, they are attached to the new building by two workers, a father and son, who together complete the puzzle of the facade. Today, after three years, the panels look the same as the day they were made.

Design and Aesthetics

The company is able to immediately showcase the products it creates to new clients even before entering the building. Designed to contrast with the previous white buildings of the former headquarters, the facade panels are made in dark gray, which along with the gable roof gives it a monolithic appearance. This further contrasts with its interior - the gray exterior juxtaposed with the spacious and open interior.

Sustainability and Well-being

The windows open to the north, providing continuous internal light that does not change too much during working hours. The goal is to reduce the use of artificial lighting and instead harness natural light. Vers une Industrie Légère is a place where industry, environment, and people can coexist harmoniously, valuing the surrounding landscape and nature.
