A transparent pavilion between nature and architecture

An elegant and minimal extension that interacts with the existing structure, expanding the house towards the landscape. A refuge of light, material, and harmony, where nature becomes an integral part of the living experience.

Harmonious integration with the existing house

The project, by Pablo Muñoz Payá Arquitectos, arises from the desire to expand the services of an existing residence with a pavilion that integrates naturally and discreetly. The intervention not only adds new functions but also extends the outdoor platform on the terraced ground, offering a broader enjoyment of the plot and the surrounding landscape. The new volume is anchored to an existing stone masonry structure, that of the barbecue, and reinterprets its presence through a contemporary language of lightness and transparency.

Lightness and transparency as design features

Transparency becomes the key element of this pavilion: large glass panels, 3.5 meters high, completely wrap around the perimeter, flooding the interior with light and creating an immersive relationship with the natural environment. The structure is minimized, with essential pillars and a massive wooden roof, where sectioned beams of 32x16 cm provide rhythm and texture to the ceiling. The contrast between the solidity of the roof and the lightness of the glass surfaces generates a refined balance between strength and transparency, between weight and suspension.

Natural Materials and Material Continuity

The entire intervention is characterized by a selection of natural materials that provide warmth and timelessness. The structure, kitchen, and furnishings are made of natural wood, while the interior walls are finished with clay plaster. The floor, in Crema Marfil stone from a nearby quarry, echoes the material already present in the outdoor spaces of the house, but with a new herringbone installation that evokes wooden bridge planks. This choice reinforces the idea of continuity between interior and exterior, a recurring theme in architectural projects that seek harmony with the natural context.

Warmth, tradition, and conviviality

The kitchen counter, the front panel, and the large five-meter table are made of dark travertine, carved from a single block with a thickness of 5 cm. This sculptural element becomes the heart of the space, designed for sharing and conviviality. The warm tones of wood, combined with traditional details and modern furnishings, create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The entire project is conceived as a delicate architectural exercise that combines transparency, material, and warmth, giving life to a place where architecture merges with nature and the beauty of the landscape becomes part of daily life.
