Great poetic impact both in the perception of the spaces from the inside and in its external form for this house on the lake.

Close relationship between designers and clients

The extreme attention to the atmospheres created between the delicacy of minimal yet warmly natural interior design and the skillful use of views over the woods and the surrounding lake is the result of a passionate design effort by Studio Puisto in close collaboration with the client: experiences of the place and living, atmospheres, materiality, and nature of light are the starting points of the design, identified almost philosophically well in advance of the actual spatial design.

Light but also darkness

For the Square House, design choices have been made with aesthetic and impactful sensory implications, such as the use of natural light and a spatial design that is not afraid of darkness, but has transformed it into strength: the building has areas with a large amount of light and places where one can curl up in the shadow, following the situations and mood.

Strong connection with the surrounding nature

The building's location is strongly influenced by the views of the surrounding landscape, to the point that the landscape itself is the most important element of the interior, alive and constantly changing throughout the day and seasons.

Stained Glass

The architecture consists of three square volumes that fit together. Inside the main volume dedicated to daytime functions, spaces are distributed fluidly without partitions, while all services and the sleeping area are enclosed in a central block carved out by the functions themselves. Sunshades integrated into the facade alternating with large windows create plays of light; the floor level of the living room creates the illusion of floating on the lake; the internal and external woods treated naturally give warm and silky sensations.

Wood

The structure is entirely made of wood except for the garage and wet rooms, and the house is heated with a geothermal system like in similar architecture projects.
