Architecture as a Critical Response

David Driesen and Tom Verschueren, united by a deep passion for architecture, founded the studio dmvA – acronym for “door middel van Architectuur” meaning “through architecture”. Their goal is ambitious: to provide a critical response to social, economic, and collective issues through architectural design.

Experimentation and Continuous Research

The studio does not adhere to a rigid manifesto but constructs its own language through experimentation: a creative process based on the search for form, materials, and sustainability. Each project is born from three fundamental elements: a question, a context, and a budget.

Expressiveness and Attention to Detail

The work of dmvA is characterized by its expressive and at the same time meticulous nature, capable of achieving maximalism through minimalism. The studio's approach reveals a particular care for details and materiality, central elements in the design process.

No Style, All Styles

By refusing to adopt a defined style, dmvA actually appropriates the entire stylistic spectrum. This attitude breaks down any conformity constraints and strongly asserts that there is no timeless architecture. The focus always remains on the design process and the search for architectural added value in every intervention.
