A.D. 1517: the rooftop that tells Gallipoli between sea and history

In the heart of Gallipoli, the rooftop A.D. 1517 at the Boutique Hotel "I Bastioni San Domenico" celebrates history, art, and nature: a project that combines the charm of the past with the beauty of the Apulian elements, offering a unique experience among sky, sea, and Italian culture

A.D. 1517: a tribute to the past and tradition

In the heart of Gallipoli, the Boutique Hotel "I Bastioni San Domenico" relives a fragment of history with the A.D. 1517 project. This rooftop space tells the origins of the community founded by the friars of San Domenico, who arrived in the Apulian city in 1517. The architect Massimo Brambilla has transformed the terrace into a place that preserves and celebrates Italian cultural roots. This intervention, part of a broader vision of architectural projects, is much more than a redevelopment: it is a tribute that unites past and present, giving back to the city a space that engages with the history, art, and identity of the territory.

The fusion of elements: water, air, fire, and earth

The A.D. 1517 terrace is a work that reflects the harmony of the Apulian nature. The crystalline sea and the blue sky intertwine with the warmth of the Lecce stone floor and the charm of the Baroque fireplace, recovered from a patrician house. Every detail is designed to enhance the union between natural elements and architecture, creating an atmosphere that invites immersion in the beauty of the landscape. The terrace thus becomes a symbolic space, where each element has a meaning, in a continuous dialogue with the surrounding environment and historical memory.

Minimal furnishings and local craftsmanship: the essence of design

The carefully chosen furnishings reflect a minimal aesthetic that lets the terrace itself speak. The Ethimo chairs, in a cardinal red that recalls Christian tradition, are paired with a refined mise en place, featuring teak root plates and Puglian ceramic bowls crafted by local artisans. This balance between simplicity and sophistication conveys a sense of authenticity, making the space welcoming and sophisticated. The terrace accommodates up to 32 people at tables, 10 at the counter, and 12 on the ducchene, offering an intimate and refined experience, perfect for those seeking to rediscover the charm of tradition in a contemporary setting.
