Rooftop redevelopment of the Boutique Hotel "I Bastioni San Domenico". Project A.D. 1517, a dive into Italian past

In 2021, at the Boutique Hotel "I Bastioni San Domenico", it feels like diving into 1517, when three friars from S. Domenico arrived in Gallipoli with the task of founding their own community. Here on the rooftop terrace of the Boutique Hotel "I Bastioni San Domenico", overlooking the sea, the project A.D. 1517 was born

Curated by architect Massimo Brambilla, the redevelopment of the A.D. 1517 terrace is a tribute to art, culture, and Italian architecture. The goal of the project was to create a place where natural elements merge with one another: the water of the splendid sea, the air of the always blue sky, the fire from the Baroque fireplace from a patrician house, and the earth of the warm Lecce stone floor

Exiting the elevator and looking ahead, everything is sea and sky. All the elements of Apulia have been carefully recreated on the terrace, but the space remains free, versatile, and malleable in order to be transformed into a lounge bar, restaurant, or location for special events. The sense of infinity is perceivable in every corner of the rooftop, where the guest's gaze gets lost in the horizon thanks to the counter overlooking the sea

In the choice of furniture style, minimalism was chosen to let the space speak: comfortable Ethimo chairs, in a cardinal red that alludes to the Christian component, a refined mise en place composed of teak root dishes, family silverware, and Apulian ceramic bowls made by local artisans

A sober and light furnishing: it's the terrace itself that tells its own story and conveys its authenticity. A.D. 1517 is a 100 square meter terrace and can accommodate 32 people seated at tables, 10 at the counter, and 12 on the daybeds
