Jorge Eduardo Neira Ik Lab: eco-sustainable museum in Yucatan

An art gallery like no other, in the heart of one of the most exclusive places in South America, Azulik Uh May, a new art center located in Mexico. The latest project by Roth, Eduardo Neir, founder and designer of the Azulik resort and the adjacent art space Ik Lab.

IK LAB: vision and innovation

The spaces of IK LAB will host international artists and revolutionary contemporary art exhibitions, becoming a reference point for experimentation and dialogue between cultures. Conceived and designed by Jorge Eduardo Neira Sterkel, IK LAB is not just a gallery, but a place designed to stimulate immersive experiences that intertwine architecture, nature, and creativity. A pledge to the potential of human evolution and artistic vision, this space is defined through the skillful combination of knowledge, technological innovation, applied sustainability, spirituality, and collective experiences, with the aim of opening new paths on how to create and experience art in an authentic and transformative way.

AZULIK Uh May: a creative ecosystem

Inspired by the abundant natural environment and the rich heritage of the local Maya culture, the new interdisciplinary site AZULIK Uh May presents itself as a multifaceted and flexible complex that houses a variety of creative spaces. Within it, there is an innovative artistic space, a fashion and design laboratory, a school of arts and crafts, a cutting-edge recording studio, and residences designed for artists and thought leaders from a wide range of fields, all united by the desire to experiment, collaborate, and generate new forms of cultural and artistic expression.

Organic Architecture and Spirituality

AZULIK Uh May continues to witness Roth's commitment to preserving and integrating the environment through careful choices of materials and construction techniques, giving life to an architecture that harmoniously interacts with the surrounding nature. The anthropomorphic structures, typical of his architectural vision, seem to emerge spontaneously from the ground and are connected to each other by suspended bridges and winding paths that guide the visitor on an immersive journey. Among the first realizations stands out a monumental dome made of concrete and bejuco, 16 meters high, surmounted by the symbolic Flower of Life, a geometric shape composed of overlapping circles that draw a pattern resembling a flower, evoking ancient spiritual knowledge and a strong connection with the universe.

An architecture in harmony with nature

The complex captures the soul of the place and has been designed with extreme attention to preserving and enhancing the local ecosystems. The construction process was conceived with full awareness of the carbon footprint: not a single tree was cut down to make room for the buildings, which were instead built to embrace and integrate with the existing vegetation, creating a harmonious balance between architecture and the natural environment and strengthening the bond between humans and the surrounding landscape.
